RV Leveling Blocks: Valuable “Steps” Toward a Flat and Secure Setup

There’s a spot in Washington that I visit every year or two, with beautiful vistas, playful wildlife, and an RV parking spot that’s anything but flat.

What do you do? Well if you’re stubborn and like doing things the hard way, you grab whatever’s close by, and make it work.
…until it doesn’t. That was my experience, and as you can see, I’ve learned my lesson.

Side by side comparison of scrap wood leveling vs. leveling blocks.

Glow Leveling Blocks

These blocks were a game-changer from the start. The first thing you’ll notice is their glow-in-the-dark feature. This might seem like a minor detail, but it becomes incredibly useful during late arrivals when daylight is scarce. No more fumbling around with a flashlight or trying to guess if your RV is going to hit the mark when you’re backing onto them. (They’re also pretty high-viz, high contrast in the daylight.)

The interlocking design is another standout feature. It ensures that the blocks stay securely in place, providing a stable foundation for your RV. They’re also made from durable material, capable of withstanding the weight of a large RV without cracking or warping. The ease of stacking and adjusting the height gives you precise control over leveling your vehicle. Which is especially important with a dual axle trailer like mine!
Did you notice that the green sections create a ramp!?! Smoooooth transitions!

Rubber Leveling Blocks

While the Glow Leveling Blocks are fantastic on their own, I wasn’t 100% sold on their durability on rocky surfaces. I decided to buy a set of Rubber Leveling Blocks to use as the bottom layer. Good plan, right? YES! I don’t regret for a second that I did.

The first thing I noticed about the Rubber Leveling Blocks is their excellent grip. Made from high-density (yes, real) rubber, these blocks provide a non-slip surface that keeps your RV tires or anti-sway feet securely in place. Confirming my suspicion that, where traditional plastic blocks might struggle, these excel.

The rubber material also means they are incredibly durable and resistant to wear and tear. They can handle heavy loads and rough conditions without breaking down, making them a reliable choice for long-term use. Another benefit of rubber: noise reduction. When parking on rough or rocky terrain, rubber blocks help dampen vibrations, leading to a quieter and more comfortable camping experience.

In terms of portability, the Rubber Leveling Blocks are slightly heavier than their plastic counterparts, but this is a small trade-off for the added stability and durability they provide. They don’t come with a carrying case, but their stackable design makes them easy to transport and store. Another advantage is their compact storage. The blocks come with a handy carrying case, making it easy to store them when not in use.

Even Better Together

Both the Glow Leveling Blocks and Rubber Leveling Blocks have their unique advantages. Both sets are easy to clean, a quick rinse is all they need to remove dirt and debris. Both come with their own carrying case, and are easy to pack and store for travel. Used together, they make any challenging parking spot manageable.

Final Thoughts

Investing in quality leveling blocks is essential for any RV enthusiast. It not only makes your camping setup easier and more efficient but also ensures a safer and more enjoyable adventure. So, whether you choose the glow-in-the-dark convenience or the robust stability of rubber, you’ll be well-prepared for your next trip to that beautiful, albeit uneven, spot on your journey.

(Really though. Do yourself a favor…buy both.)
