Wondering what it’s all for, and why it’s important? Here are some brief descriptions and justification for the items I’ve mentioned above.
Extension Cords
Extra length on your power cord means extra flexibility to park in the perfect spot. I carry both a 30 amp RV extension cord, and a heavy duty 15 amp 10/3 extension cord with me.
Surge Protector
Protect your electrical system from power surges with a quality surge protector. This device is essential for safeguarding your equipment against voltage spikes and fluctuations. Which can be EXTREMELY expensive! Check out this surge protector to keep your power setup safe.
Adapters & Splitters
RV boxes at established campgrounds can vary widely, in both amperage (that might not always match your RV’s requirements) and availability of outlets. Outlets at residential homes however, are almost always 15amp. (Which your RV is probably not!) To ensure you’re always prepared, carry a range of adapters and splitters, such as the 15-30 amp dogbone and a 30 amp splitter.
Usage Monitor
Monitoring your power usage helps you manage your electrical consumption and avoid overloading your system. A usage monitor is a handy tool for keeping track of your energy use in real-time.
Circuit Analyzer
Finally, a circuit analyzer is essential for checking the safety of your shore power connection. This circuit analyzer can identify wiring issues and ensure you have a safe and reliable connection.
Storage Bag
Keeping your power cords and accessories organized is important for quick setup and takedown. Clear storage totes and canvas bags do the job effectively. A trickle charger is a must-have for keeping your RV or trailer batteries topped off when connected to shore power. It prevents your batteries from discharging and maintains their health over time. I recommend the trickle charger available on Amazon for its reliability and efficiency.
Weatherproof Cable Connection Box
When connecting to shore power in wet or muddy conditions, a weatherproof container from Sockit Box offers excellent protection for your electrical connections.
